This course is for Licensed Acupuncturists who have completed PIHMA CPED’s Animal Acupuncture course and are looking to feel more comfortable around horses and be more prepared to treat them.
Demonstrate the skills required to safely catch, lead & release horses.
Demonstrate the skills required to pick up a hoof and clean it safely.
Demonstrate the skills required to handle horses safely when being therapeutically treated.
Demonstrate the ability to identify and understand the way in which horses communicate with their body language.
Learn to observe and critically think about the movement of horses for the purposes of acquiring the skills in determining restricted movement, and or lameness.
Demonstrate the ability to identify and understand the horse’s communication through facial expressions (Grimace Scale).
Demonstrate the proper locations and skills required to take temperature, pulse, respiration [TPRs] and capillary refill correctly and safely.
Demonstrate an understanding of the components of the Passive Physical exam of a horse.
Learn to observe and critically think about the movement during a Lameness Flexion Test.
