Here are all of the answers to PIHMA’s most frequently asked admissions questions! If you have any other questions or concerns please call 602-274-1885 and we will be happy to speak with you.
No, you must have 60 college semester credits for the master’s programs and 90 college semester college credits for the doctoral degree. All courses completed must have a passing grade of a C- or better.
Within the 60 college credits needed to come to PIHMA, you need three credit hours of each of the following:
- English
- Psychology
The following will need to be taken as co-requisites:
- Basic Biology
- Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry
*If your credits are more than five years old you can take them in your first year at PIHMA.

Applicants should submit a completed admissions packet that includes the following:
- Application Fee
- A signed FERPA Agreement
- 400-word essay
- Resume
- Two signed letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts from your previous college(s)
- Computer/ Network User Form
- Authorization to Credit Form
All of our programs are designed to be completed in four years, but you have a maximum of six years to complete the MSAC/ DAC and eight years to complete the MSAcHM/ DACHM.
You can take some of the western science classes prior to starting at PIHMA and transfer them into your degree. The class must be completed within the last five years and you must have received a C- or better for the class to transfer.

First, you will need to complete your degree program, then you will need to pass the NCCAOM Exam and Licensure.

There are many medical businesses that are beginning to hire acupuncturists. For example, Cancer Centers of America and Mayo Clinic hire acupuncturists for their patients. Modern Acupuncture, pain relief centers, and the VA hire acupuncturists as well.
Many LAc’s open their own clinic or practice.
