Acupuncture is an amazing medicine, addressing and resolving many of the health issues that conventional western medicine is unable to fix. Acupuncture is even more amazing when performed by highly qualified and trained professionals with many years of experience. Such is the case with PIHMA Professor Dr. Peng Sun.

Dr Peng Sun came to Arizona after being trained in both Chinese Traditional Medicine and Western Medicine and having 20 years of experience.  He obtained his Ph.D. in Orthopedics from Shanghai University of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), and his Masters and Bachelor degrees in Chinese Medicine from Medical College of Qingdao University (department of Orthopedic Surgery) in Shandong China and Shandong University of TCM, respectively. Click here to view Dr. Sun’s Resume. He  specializes in treating a variety of musculoskeletal, neurological, and many other conditions  (including headaches, migraines, sciatic pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, joint  pain, spinal problems and TMJ.

Dr. Sun also successfully treats depression, anxiety, insomnia, infertility, menstrual disorders, menstrual pain, menopausal syndrome, PMS, endometriosis, and fibroids. Other areas of success include treating obesity, skin diseases like eczema, neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, stroke sequel and many others.  He is well-published and has received several grants and awards. His rich experience and great skills in TCM have made him a highly sought-after doctor in Phoenix.

One such example of patient success is with “Sacha” a 65 year old female who had been suffering from Multiple sclerosis for 40 years. She came to Dr. Sun with the chief complaint of having burning and needling pain at both legs and right hand for the past year. The burning pain felt worst at night and whenever she sat or was tired, and only reduced somewhat when she walked a little. She had tried many medicines but they failed to resolve the problem. In addition, her sleeping was poor, having difficulty falling asleep and easily awakening.  Using the diagnostic methods unique to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dr. Sun observed that she had a red tongue with  white coating, and her various pulse measurements at her wrists showed that Kidney Yang was strong, Heart pulse was rapid, her Kidney Yin was weak, and her Lungs were weak.  His Diagnosis was Kidney Yin deficiency with deficiency fire in the lower part of her body.

After continued treatment, her heels improved and she also began to fall sleep easier and did not wake up even when her pet cat licked her nose at early morning.  She also reported she lost weight during the treatment (this naturally occurred as a result of the  acupuncture treatment which not only focused on her chief complaint of MS but also adjusted her whole body to return to normal conditions.  With only 5-6 treatments, there was very little heel pain left.

Another patient had been diagnosed with early stage Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), which is cancer of a type of white blood cells called lymphocytes. He started seeing Dr. Sun for acupuncture and made some adjustments to his diet. After a few months of treatment, his white blood cell count returned to normal range.

Dr. Sun teaches and sees patients at PIHMA . He is hosting a special Community Acupuncture Day on Tuesday, September 10 from 1pm-6pm. For only $25, he will provide a pulse and tongue diagnosis and 20 minute acupuncture treatments.  Dr. Sun’s professional clinic rates are $95 for initial visits and $75 for follow-up treatments.
